Sweat & Hot Water
Work was work and busy as work usually is. (Hence the title "sweat"). Finally I got to the end of a week and felt as though I was up to date with what I wanted to be up to date with. I can't remember what I wrote last entry so I hope I am not about to repeat myself. The only tid bits of news really are that I got the job at the detox that I applied for (starting Oct 14th) which is awesome cos I can choose my hours etc. Finally a means to pay off my increasing (but manageable) credit card debt. Also, I have decided to do one leg of a triathlon with 2 of my work colleagues. Adele is going to run and Di will swim and I will b. It's a women's only Special K thing and is apparantly really cruisy so hopefully I'll make the 10kms without totally embarassing myself. I'm considering doing it on the bmx Dave found at the dump. He's put new inner tubes in and it just needs a comfy seat and brakes. I think that could be kinda fun...we'll see what happens. Anyway, I had Friday off so I had a day to myself alone with my creativity and did painting and made some crystal earrings that are gorgeous and wrote 3 short stories for this Elle MacPherson underwear competition...and went to yoga. I'm getting more flexible again and really noticed it on Friday. Made chicken, brie, pear, spinach and tomato burgers for dinner - YUM. Then we went to Newmarket pools and spent an hour in the sauna and hot pools - relaxing delicousness in a chlorinated heaven. Saturday I had to work and went out to this Chinese lady's place who is helping with a database I am trying to build. I'm learning heaps. Anyway, we did a couple of hours work and then she invited me to stay for a Chinese lunch that her mother had prepared. Her mother is about 60 or 70 and there were another 4 people under 20. It was awesome. Really yummy - felt like I had stepped into another world. I felt very proud of my chopstick technique and ability after the mother commented on it! Sunday had a relaxing day of gym first then I made french toast with cinnamon and sugar and bacon (yum yum) then crashed out reading trash magazines for a couple of hours. Got awoken to a text invitation to Nick and Jodie's for dinner (Dave's friends with Nick and I was starting to get to Kknow Jodie a few weeks ago). Went into baking overdrive and whipped up a lemon tart to take with us. Nick made spaghetti with meatballs and a tomato sauce (yum again) and everyone loved the tart (I even got a round of applause - totally embarassing and totally lovely at the same time). Watched some episodes of John Safran vs God with them. Totally bizarre - John Saffran vs The Exorcist was pretty full on. Highly recommended. You can get the epsiodes at your local viseo shop. But wait, there's more....no, just joking! If anyone is up for whipping up a lemon tart a la the awesome recipe I found...
