midweek update
Kia Ora everyone.
I forgot to mention that Saturday marked Dave and my being together for 9 months - hmmm, that's not very good England is it? haha. We went to Mission Bay which is this side of the Harbour and got fish and chips and Movenpick Swizerlandish icecream. yumooliyay.
Got a few job interviews hooked up to increase da cashola flowamola: market research, social detox, ywca hostel and admin. See what happens...
Drove my car on the motorway and didn't get lost today - very proud of myself.
I had Dave's parents for dinner last night...I made a red kidney bean dip garnished with lime and red onion and lightly fried cut up tortilla to make chips to dip into it. For the main I made a bed of mashed pumpkin with roast garlic squished through it, marinated tofu with sesame seeds garnished with a strip of seaweed/nori sheet and a broccoli and mushroom side. Dessert was fillo pastry folded over and over topped with mascarpone, icing sugar, vanilla essence and wild berries on the top. It was all pretty yummy. I was so proud of myself - never cooked for anyone's parents before!
About to go to Nudge's birthday dinner (friend of Dave's) at a Japanese restraunt.
Before I go...
A few things that make Auckland different from Melbourne:
1. The window-washers on the street aren't junkies
2. Most driveways go either up or down quite steeply - even in the city
3. The milkbar is called "the dairy"
4. "Dairies" sell bunches of flowers
5. Guaranteed never to get run over by a tram
6. Skinny milk is called "trim milk"
7. Share-houses are called flats even if they're a house because people are "flatting" in them which means sharing a house.
That's all I can think of for now....
I know I told you a bit about Jodie but don't think I've told you about my other friends:
Aletia: creative, works in the film industry as a clapper-loader
Suzie: Aletia's housemate - jewellery designer studying and working doing jewellery
Wendy: got couple of kids, into bargain hunting, used to be into dance and choreography before kids, creative
Rose: works in fashion retail. Is into baking at the moment - a lot.
Dibedubadubadat's all folks.....
