Sunday Scones

Firstly - this Chinese gooseberry still has juice to share with you about my adventures...
lucky!

Today I went to the gym and all the cells in my body were buzzing when I left so that was awesome. Did the usual supermarket and fruit and veg shop for the week (except for meat cos we go to this cool place called "The Mad Butcher" that sells good meat really cheap but it's not near the supermarket - blah blah). Did some internet transfers to pay for the acrylic paints and seed beads I won on Trade Me so they should arrive in the mail soon. The walls in our loungeroom are boringly bare and a dull golden warm yellowy colour so they definitely need something. The kitchen wall is nicely decorated with a square of funky plastic flowers that Cath gave me when I left - lookin good. Anyway, we got home from the groceries and gave the house a quick clean as we had invited some friends over for scones with jam and cream! It's kind of funny, I felt like I should have had a teapot with one of those handknitted hat things for it (can't remember the technical name). And I didn't have an apron on or glasses perched on the end of my nose. But it was fun. Fiona and Hunter came over - Fiona is a friend of Dave's who had us for dinner in the first week we were here. Hunter is her 2 year old. He's gorgeous so I had a ball playing with him. He was so funny, he kept spinning round and round in circles and then falling over giggling. And we had Aletia over as well who is also one of Dave's friends but I think I can actually call her one of my friends too now. We fully click an get along really well. She's one of the girls I do writing group with. And now, her e I am writing to all of you back in oz.

Yesterday (Saturday) I worked. We were running mentor training for the new group of mentors that will taken the girls from Mt Roskill - the school we're taking on with the immigrant module. It was such an inspiring and amazing day. I got home feeling like my future had just opened up in front of me. I met so many fantastic women and the facilitators were awesome. One of them said I would make a good facilitator and said she thought I was very experienced and knowledgeable for my age. She also said that I must have had some good life experience to be so wise now or something like that. She is an ex-cop who is now facilitating groups. The other lady is also amazing. She speaks 7 languages, has lived in 5 countries and after an interesting life in the health and multicultural sector is now employed as a researcher at Auckland University of Technology and gets paid to speak to groups etc. We got talking about groups and working with groups and she suggested I study group therapy which is something she did and she said it helps her in everything - even presenting to big groups etc. She said to feel free to call her about it to get more info. We got along really well so I think I will. Anyway - I'm feeling pretty well-connected already and can feel my networks growing which is inspiring in itself - especially because it all involves awesome and empowered women. After that I went for dinner with Debbie, Aletia and Dave to Burger Fuel - gourmet burger place near our place. Debbie is the one we were house-sitting for. She told us so many hilarious stories about traveling through Mexico. Amazing - makes me want to go to South America. Then we came home and watched an awesome video - "A series of Unfortunate events by Lemony Snicketts". It's kind of a kids movie but an adults movie too - kidult genre I would definitely proclaim. Loved it.

Friday I had a day off and was seriously lazy. Didn't get up til 11. Went and visited Dave's mum. Picked up Dave's books and went through them and made jewelry and knitted. Dave went out Friday night so I had the priveledge of having the house to myself and chatting to my family on the phone and making things and cooking and loving it all.

Thursday I worked and not much exciting happened that I can remember.

So - there's the weekly update - kinda a biggie this weekend. Got a face masque on that needs to be washed off before my face comes off with it. Til next time....mmmmmmwa
